The Gelios- 40 (75/1.5) f/1.5 have a Very nice bokeh - it's nice to watch.

Very good colurs - one of the best shots taken m42 on E-system for me.

I take all photo in JPG, easy retouch in Photoshop, resize and sharp. But It's fact, many lens M42 is sharper than kits lens 14-45 and 40-150

Helios-40 (85/1.5) is copy Carl Zeiss Jena Biotar 1,5/75 (193. I buy his by old photographer, it cost $100. But result is wonderful! Lens sharp on f/1.5 and bohe is very beautifully Ideal for portraits...

vr what M42 lenses do you have? I'm just curious I was wondering for a few days of buying SMC Takumar 55/1.8, but it looks like I should change my plans and look for this Helios/Gelios 85/1,5 This lens is amazing. Or buy both

i think SMC Takumar 55/1.8 is good lens! But 4/3 standart have some strangeness and many best and expensive M42 manual lens look badly whith soft effect and chromatic aberations It is necessary to try

Helios 85/1.5 now in Minsk cost $150-200

85mm on E-system is 170mm very long for portraits, to long.

When you use 85mm on full frame/analog you will have in frame a lot of bacground - when you use "log" lens - like 170mm there is just a little place for background.

VR, it's how I supposed, it's Helios-40.
I wonder how perfect is your manual focusing. I'm using the SMC Takumar 55/1.8 since few months and now I find I have some problems with focusing that didn't appear before.
And now, with Zeiss Sonnar lens the focusing is a real disaster to me.
You're doing a real great job with the manual lenses.
