From Sigma:
Sigma to announce new SD11 dSLR, equipped with 600 MP Fovenon X3 sensor built to 4/3 standard (scheduled for summer).
Their earlier 2:3 sensor is to be modified to 3:4 ratio, and made to conform to four-thirds standard. The effective pixel size is 6MP, but since each pixel has independent RGB signal outputs, it will be effectively equivalent to 18MP.
The new camera will support in-camera JPEG. RAW data also will be possible using a reversible compression type that reduces data capacity [translator's note: dunno what this means].
The camera body is to be based on the earlier SD10. The AF will have new 7-point type system, and AF speed is to be greatly improved. The viewfinder is a new design, changing from the earlier sports type that allowed the user to see peripheral areas, to a normal type. The lens mount is to be available in two types, the Sigma AF and four-thirds mount. Open pricing. Sales scheduled to begin in summer.
